2008 SEMMY winner

I want to thank everyone who voted and helped my post Branding For Small Business And Bloggers win the SEMMY in the small business category. As I mentioned when the post was first nominated it was an honor to be included, but let’s face it, winning is better and thank you all for helping make that happen.

You can see how the voting broke down for the small business category.

I’d like to congratulate all the winners. There are a lot of great articles in the list below and each was a deserving winner.

I’ve said a few times through this process that it was an honor to be included in the awards. When I look over the above list I realize I’m probably the least know of all the authors above. Having my name listed alongside each of them is truly an honor.

I want to thank Matt one more time for putting the SEMMYS together. As someone who collects a lot of links for a weekly monthly round-up post I know how much time and work it takes to gather them all up and then narrow them back down into something presentable. I’m sure Matt devoted a lot of effort to putting the awards together and given the talk I’m glad to see the first annual SEMMYS have been perceived as a success.

Thanks again Matt and congratulations for putting together a great new blogging award.

And while I’m handing out congratulations how about one for the New York Giants for their historic win in Super Bowl XLII. Not many believed outside their locker room, but they showed that if you believe you can succeed.

Congrats to you, Steven. Like the Giants (and the 18-1 Patriots), the hard work pays off.

CONGRATULATIONS! Your views and advice on branding have been very enlightening to me, so I’m especially happy you won for a post on that very topic.

Thanks Stephen. I know you’ve liked some of my branding posts too. I think you were one of the first to like the post that was nominated.

Congratulations Steven. Those were some excellent articles that you were up against, but it was a righteous vote. Congratulations. I wish I could shake your hand.

I’ve said it in a couple of other places, but I wanted to say it here too. Congratulations.

Just goes to show that people know quality when they see it.

@David - Thanks. There were a lot of good articles nominated. I had read most of them during the year and I probably linked to many of them at one point or another. I’m accepting and returning the virtual handshake.

@Kristine - Thanks. I hope it was that people could recognize quality. It could have been all those bribes I sent out too.

You already know my feelings about awards, so I won’t go into that, I’ll just say it here:

Congratulations, kudos, glad you won, here’s a standing ovation, a tribute, a recognizable honor, you received some critical acclaim, you have my blessing, so here’s my applause to you Steven, hope you feel the flattery :).

Thanks James. yes I do know you’re thoughts on awards. I’m really not a big awards person either. It’s always nice to have some recognize you as having done something good and in this case I have a lot of respect for Matt who put this together.

If winning gains the attention of a few people who might not have known me before I’m certainly happy to have the attention.

Thanks again for the flattery.
